6. Focusing Only on the "Hard Assets"
I’ve seen estates worth tens of millions crumble within one generation because the parents spent 30 years preparing the money for the children, but zero years preparing the children for the money.
If your legacy strategy is just a thick binder of legal documents and tax-saving trusts, it’s incomplete. You’re passing on assets without passing on the values that created them.
The Fix: Cultivate the "Cave of Adullam."
Think of David in the cave. He took a group of "distressed, indebted, and discontented" men and formed them into champions. Your role as a leader: and a parent: is to be a "Legacy Architect." Involve your heirs in the giving process early. Let them see the "Impact Dividends" of generosity. Teach them that wealth is a responsibility to be stewarded, not a prize to be consumed.
7. Stagnant Stewardship (The Successful Christian Trap)
The most dangerous place to be in your Christian walk is to be a successful Christian. Why? Because outward success breeds spiritual complacency. You start to trust your bank account more than your Creator. You stop taking "faith-filled action" because you have enough "safety" to not need faith.
The Fix: Prioritize Obedience Over Expediency.
In 1 Samuel 13, Saul made a fear-based, circumstance-compelled decision because he was afraid. He prioritized expediency over obedience. A true legacy strategy is built on long-term obedience. It’s about "Kingdom Exit": the idea that your ultimate exit isn't just from your company, but into the presence of the Master who will ask what you did with what He gave you.
The Next Move
Legacy doesn't happen by accident. It’s the result of purposeful action and strategic coordination. If you’re feeling the weight of your success and you’re looking for a more meaningful path, let’s talk.
I don’t offer cookie-cutter investment advice. I help you coordinate your "team" as the Quarterback, ensuring your business, your family, and your generosity are all pulling in the same direction.
