6. Spiritual Complacency (The Success Trap)

There is a subtle danger in hitting your "Enough" number. Without an intentional line in the sand, "Enough" naturally shifts toward "More." We see this in 1 Samuel 13 with Saul: he prioritized expediency over obedience because he was afraid of losing what he had built.

When we become successful, we often stop taking the "wise risks" that got us there. We move from the "forest" (active growth and impact) back to the "stronghold" (safe stagnation).

The Fix: Use the "Cave of Adullam" model for leadership. David gathered the distressed, the indebted, and the discontented and formed them into champions. Your business and your wealth are tools to develop others. If your success has made you comfortable, it’s time to refocus on the $1B Vision: deploying massive capital for Kingdom work. That kind of mission kills complacency.

7. Being Your Own Quarterback

The final mistake is trying to coordinate the transition alone. You have an estate attorney, a CPA, a wealth manager, and perhaps an insurance agent. They are all experts in their silos, but they rarely talk to each other.

When they don’t communicate, gaps form. And when you’re the one trying to bridge those gaps, you’re not acting as the CEO or the visionary: you’re acting as the administrative clerk for your own estate.

The Fix: You need a "Quarterback." You need someone who understands the "why" behind your wealth, not just the "how." My role is to coordinate these experts, ensuring that every piece of your tax, legal, and financial strategy is aligned with your ultimate goal: a meaningful legacy.

The Path Forward

Legacy isn't about how much you leave in the bank; it’s about the ripple effect of your life on others. It’s about ensuring that your business exit isn't just a transaction, but a transformation that funds the work of the Kingdom.

If you’ve reached a level of success but feel like you’re missing the strategic purpose to back it up, let’s talk. Whether you’re navigating the "Messy Middle" or preparing for a major Kingdom Exit, you don’t have to do it alone.

Reach out to me directly to talk about how this applies to your business and your legacy.
